This is a perfect cottage for two people. It was so well equipped, the decor was immaculate and very stylish and the owners left some delicious goodies for us to eat/drink, as well as fresh flowers. It was a wonderful stay and we would highly recommend Huckworthy cottage.

Just got back from our week at Huckworthy, at the risk of using to many superlatives, excellent property, well equipped with everything that we needed and was very comfortable. Location was excellent on the western side of Dartmoor, can walk out onto the moors more or less straight from the property, and with just short drives to many more different walks across the moors, amazing wide open spaces. Getting stocked up with provisions for the week was not an issue with a well stocked CO-OP at Yelverton or larger Tesco or Morrisons at Tavistock and there's plenty of pubs in the area. Can recommend the Walkhampton inn at Walkhampton and the Drake Manor inn at Buckland Monachorum.

Absolutely beautiful accommodation! We were recommended this cottage by a family member who lives in the local area. This cottage went above and beyond are expectations. The owners were accommodating when booking and we received a warm welcome on arrival. I would definitely stay here again.

Another return visit for us and once again we had a lovely welcome and such a nice time. The accommodation was immaculate as always and lovely to sit out and watch the sheep. The cottage is wonderfully located for access to walking on Dartmoor and also for local National Trust properties and the nearby town of Tavistock. Hopefully we will be back in summer.

A surprise holiday for my partner’s 60th. Welcomed with a gorgeous box of Cornish chocolates from the staff at Classic Cottages and lots of other lovely welcome treats. A warm, cosy and beautiful cottage offering pure solitude & luxury. Set in a lovely wooded area with surrounding fields and easy walk up to the moors and tors. We were frequently accompanied by Tess the owners dog who we were sad to say bye bye too. Our dog made a friend there too! Owners lovely & friendly and left us in peace to enjoy the peace. Family came to stay in the other two cottages which were equally outstanding. I’m sure we will all be back.

Great scenery, quiet and relaxing. Me and my husband had a much needed break from our routine, the owners live close by but respected our privacy. I Loved the owners dog"Tessa", so sweet and playful. The welcome pack was much appreciated, Overall a great experience that we are looking forward to repeat very soon.

It’s a lovely property in a wonderful spot and an excellent base from which to discover Dartmoor. The owner is welcoming and there if needed. We didn’t need the owner as the property is well equipped and information supplied answered any questions we might have had. Highly recommended and we will very likely return.

Beautiful cottage: spotlessly clean, well equipped and fantastically comfortable bed ! Quiet, peaceful location with easy access to the open moor - lanes leading to cottage are narrow with poor visibility in places; not the time to meet a farm tractor !! Owners on site, but not in sight, have friendly well behaved dog. Our second visit and will return next year.

We have just returned from our stay and had a wonderful time, the cottage was exceptionally clean and welcoming and we had a bottle of wine and croissants on arrival. Lots of things to do in the area and each evening we could walk out of the cottage up onto Dartmoor. The field behind our cottage had a small flock of sheep and lambs in it and it was nice to sit out and have a glass of wine in the peaceful surroundings watching them. Highly recommended, we will be returning soon! Thank you.

A very peaceful location with great walks from the door, including a quiet lane walk to the village pub. The cottage is full of character and is beautifully decorated and fitted out. It had all we needed for a perfect holiday. We enjoyed afternoon tea in the garden’s sun-trap with views of the magnolias and daffodils in flower. We will certainly be returning!

I would definitely recommend this cottage to anyone, but expect to travel if you want to be near a beach, not that it was an issue for us we just needed a complete break with peace and quiet, the cottage was in a lovely setting.

The property was above and beyond our expectations. Very comfortable with exceptional decor, furnishings, lighting and a very well equipped kitchen. Some lovely personal additions from the owners, who were friendly and very, very helpful. The guide to the cottage was detailed and very informative. Very, very pleased with this cottage and almost don't want to recommend it in case it gets overbooked and we can't go back! We certainly intend to return.

Huckworthy was idyllic. The cottage is so nicely done and the surroundings are just beautiful. We were delighted with everything about our stay and really didn't want to leave. Reading other reviews, in case you are worried about the lanes, it was absolutely fine in a VW Tiguan.

We had a wonderful stay for my 50th birthday. Despite being January we had amazing weather, which meant we could sit in the garden and walk up to Dartmoor. The cottage was really welcoming and clean, had everything we could have wanted and we found it spacious and comfortable. We will be booking again as we enjoyed it so much.

This is a beautifully appointed cottage, with everything you could need for a week away. We’ve stayed in many self-catering properties across Europe and this was the best yet! The kitchen was so well stocked, we struggled to find anything missing that we’d have in our own kitchen even things you’d forget like baking paper, cling film and foil! The owners are so thoughtful to provide lovely details like underfloor heating and logs/firelighters for the wood burner, a coffee machine with a milk frother as well as eco friendly products and treats like croissants, wine and organic milk to welcome you. They were really friendly made sure to say hello and told us to call them if we needed anything. The cottage was wonderfully warm, peaceful and cozy. The countryside and towns nearby were great to explore. We’d love to return soon.

We had the most loveliest week staying in Huckworthy cottage. It is beautifully done out with everything you need. The bed and sofa is very comfy, the shower is amazing, the log burner was a lovely addition and the location to explore Dartmoor was perfect. We will definitely be returning.

This is a wonderful cottage for two. A superb location that was so quiet and private, it felt like a real hide away! Both Luke and Marsha were lovely hosts and respected the Covid meet and greet changes but also made sure they offered any help we may need at any time. Fixtures and fittings were all high end finishes and the cottage was super comfortable. We will definitely return.

Beautiful property with access to great walks and stunning scenery. Be aware the last mile leading to the cottage is down some very narrow, winding lanes lined with stone walls. Access could prove challenging for some drivers. A smaller car would be an advantage here!

Having stayed in many cottages throughout Europe and the UK I can say that this is the best cottage we have ever stayed in. The cottage was very well designed and equipped, we felt home immediately we arrived. The owners Masha and Luke got the information / meet & greet just right. The location is perfect, great relaxing walks from the front door, and very short drives (5-6 miles) to some interesting locations like The Garden House, Tavistock and walks along the river Walkham further down stream. Dartmoor is not a part of the UK we have visited, it very nice without being too "touristy" so we will certainly be back.

Huckworthy is a charming cottage set in the beautiful Dartmoor countryside. The cottage is so well equipped with everything needed for a perfect stay and the owners (who are lovely) are very helpful being nearby but it also feels extremely private. The local pub was open again which was fantastic and it all felt very "normal" given we were there on the first weekend that Covid restrictions relaxed. Can't recommend this cottage highly enough.

We stayed in Huckworthy cottage for 8 splendid nights. Excellent facilities on a wonderful farm. Approached via Devon's beautiful lanes, really quiet and peaceful. Ideal for walking and visiting gardens and national trust properties across Devon. It was easy to visit both north and south coasts and Dartmoor is on your door step. We walked to Burrator reservoir from the cottage. Enjoyed a gig at the Wharf in Tavistock and had an excellent meal at the Bedford hotel. You must visit Lee Bay near Ilfracombe, Appledore and Bideford are wonderful on the north coast, Devon guild of crafts at Bovey Tracey is a must, and Overbecks NT overlooking the Salcombe Estuary has sublime views and a wonderful garden. But our favorite is The Garden House at Buckland Monachorum.

We got married in Tavistock and booked all three cottages over the week of our wedding in July 2018. We had the most amazing week – Luke and Masha (and Max too!) are the perfect hosts and couldn't have done more for us. We could not recommend these cottages more. The setting is beautiful, the cottages are immaculate and the owners are the loveliest people you could meet. It was the perfect week, made even more special by Luke and Masha, and we wish we could do it all again :)

Overall, an excellent cottage experience for us. Huckworthy is very well situated within Dartmoor - all of the main attractions are within a 30 minute drive. The cottage itself is warm, comfortable, modern, well equipped and a great place to totally relax.

It is the best cottage we have been in and we found Luke and Masha very friendly and helpful. Luke helped me when I had a blow out and not only helped me change the wheel but also gave me clear directions of the local ATS garage. We would definitely go back and Luke did show us the other cottages in case more family wanted to come. We went out in the day and usually relaxed and cooked local food in the evening. Although my holiday seems long gone I will have warm memories of this one for a long time to come. Thank You

Yes, 'Huckworthy' Cottage has been beautifully restored and gratefully saved! Architecturally stunning both on the inside as well as the outside, with all mod cons and sumptuously comfortable, but it was also the owners who made us feel welcome, especially with their little touches, like the flowers in all the rooms, the 'Mr & Mrs' card, the bowl of fruit, the cheeses, the milk and most importantly, especially after the drive, a bottle of red!
We know we didn't explore as much as we should have, especially with a Chocolate Lab, but after our wedding it was the most perfect retreat and what we needed!
We will be back, hopefully this year in October, for longer with newly acquired extended family and will explore more this time, even on walks from the actual Cottage! As it's situated within Dartmoor National Park, peacefully secluded, down a quiet quaint lane but easily accessible and never far away from whatever you're looking for and/or to do, you'll feel like a local before you know it!

Huckworthy cottage was a beautiful hideaway, we spent most of our time relaxing in the cottage. What was a brilliant surprise is that the local supermarket is only 15 minutes away and the owner also have a book stocked full of recommended local shops. The cottage held the heat really well there wasn't a single time we got cold. We also did a bit of stargazing and you won't be disappointed it was amazing. I can't recommend this place enough, it's a perfect for a retreat to the countryside.

It is a lovely modern cottage in a beautiful location just inside Dartmoor National Park. Long walks right from your front door and close to Tavistock and Yelverton. Lovely stone cottage converted to a very high spec, spotlessly clean, and beautifully furnished, they have thought of everything. The owners were extremely helpful and friendly, without being at all intrusive, and you arrive to a great welcome collection of home made provisions and wine. The area is beautifully scenic, remote and peaceful, though with plenty to do if you feel energetic. We didn't! Thank you for a great holiday.

A lovely little cottage set in woodland perfect for any couple who enjoys tranquility. Encompasses an exceptionally clean, modern setting within the surrounding countryside. Very thoughtful owners whom provided their own produce, fresh fruit and bread, wine and flowers upon arrival. They were also very private, but accessible if need be, respecting us but also being friendly. Additionally, a folder containing local restaurants, takeaways, walks etc was provided upon arrival helping us organise our stay. Also, a fantastic internet connection for somewhere so remote. Highly recommended!
